This a smooth reel with a good line capacity. I was able to put on 220 yds of 20lb mono. Love the color. would like the retrieve, speed to be a little quicker. It spooled up very easy and even. The only reason for the 4 stars is the clicker is quiet. other than that, it functions well. Was surprise how little of a turn it would lock back after free spool.

Max 18 lb drag system. LOL! I’m sorry but that is not possible with this reel. Not without using channel locks on your drag star. This reel as it’s set up from the factory is about max 6 lbs of drag. If you take it apart and clean all the excess oil off the drag washers you can get about 9 lbs, 11 lbs if you really get on the star and tighten it as tight as you can. Just saying. 18 lbs of drag is not true. Other than that the reel is just ok. For a little bit more you can a much better reel from another company. I would suggest that. Just get something better.

Bought one of the newer gen 2 models and the drag is already stripped only after 2 big fish. I'm debating if I should buy another or not because everyone else seems not to have had that problem

It’s a nice reel. I’ve put as much stress as you possibly can on my 40 and it’s still going strong. I just got the 70 and it’s just as nice. It’s got a power handle on it that’s on par with my $20 Abu Garcia power handles which only adds to the value. The 70 is about the same as an Abu Garcia 7000. If you’re used to 6500s, like myself, then I’d suggest a 60. I do wish I would have got a 60 but the error was my end so I can’t knock the reel for it. All in its a great reel for the price and will get you on the water.
