Solid unit easy install

Threw this in my trx4m high trail f150. I love it has more power on crawl and more speed on high end. Easy to install.

Pros: easy fit and plug and play, you keep the Traxxas radio, insanely slow crawling with the ability to keep consistent speed over obstacles, very quiet, and it is about 2.5X-3X faster than the original brushed motor. Cons: Super jittery at some points, a little more expensive than other competitors, motor heats up super quick and gets very hot, motor hits a point when at 1/4-1/3 throttle that makes it lose all torque and will roll backwards or stop moving all together. I sent the original one back to Traxxas after contacting their customer service department and explaining the roll back issue I was having. They sent me a new system all together but I still had the exact same problem. I went from standard gearing to low range to make the problem less dramatic. I contacted customer support once more just to let them know I was having the same issues as before. This time they said that there’s a point where the motor/speed controller go from low speed to high speed and that’s when it loses torque. When past or before that point, it’s fine and smooth. I might try to retrofit a motor from another company to see if that fixes the issue, but I have low expectations.

I installed this brushless system into my TRX-4M and I would like to formally apologize to every rock in my backyard. They never stood a chance. The stock motor was nice. Polite. Respectable. This brushless setup? This thing wakes up every morning and chooses violence (in a responsible, torque-controlled way). The power difference is not “noticeable.” It is biblical. Low-speed crawl? Smooth as butter sliding down a hot biscuit. Punch the throttle? Suddenly my tiny scale crawler thinks it’s entering King of the Hammers. And can we talk about the size? This thing is SMALL. Compact. Efficient. It fits into chassis setups where the stock motor felt like it was renting too much space. I suddenly have room. Room for wiring. Room for creativity. Room for questionable future upgrades I will absolutely justify. The throttle control is insanely smooth. No jerky nonsense. No awkward hesitation. Just clean, controllable torque that makes you feel like a tiny off-road wizard. The included ESC? Chef’s kiss. It behaves. It listens. It does not argue with me. Install was straightforward, and once it was in, my TRX-4M basically looked at me and said, “Oh… we’re serious now.” If you’re on the fence: Stop. Climb down. Install this. Then climb a rock your truck had absolutely no business climbing before. 10/10. Would absolutely overbuild again.

Nice ESC and motor. I ran into an installation problem. Two holes on the motor spacer were not threaded. I ended buying an M2 tap and corrected the error rather than go through the return process.
