I'm giving it five stars because the console itself is great and the issue I had has nothing to do with the company (Plank+Beam). I just want to warn others against purchasing the "used -- very good" version that Amazon offers, I've historically had great luck with purchasing refurbished items, so I figured I'd get the same console and save 15 bucks in the process. I CANNOT overstate how poorly packaged this product was. The box arrived partially open, affixed in one place with scotch tape! There was minimal padding in the box to keep it from jiggling around and, as a result, there are dings and dents everywhere. No instruction manual was included either, and a fairly critical clasp was missing (I had a replacement on hand). Luckily, Plank+Beam has an electronic version of the instruction manual on their website. I should probably have returned this but my laziness (it's bulky and not exactly lightweight) and the fact that it is essentially for a dark corner won out. Really disappointed at how Amazon dropped the ball on this one, though. Usually, when a product says "refurbished" or "used, very good", it is true to its word. Not the case here.

Deducting a star because the instructions are a little misleading. The first steps says to use four of the long screws but you only should be using two because you will need the other two to attach it to the base potion. Also the diagram says to have the holes pointing outward, which would leave the holes exposed and seen when finished constructing. Had to reverse the panels on the bottom portion so they won't be seen. Other than those issues based on the instructions, the color is nice, it looks good and it seems to be relatively sturdy. Fits nice in the doorway hall entry

Perfect length and width for our space. The color coordinates well with the woodwork.
