HD 85MM Telephoto Phone Lens Only for 17mm Thread Backplate, 2.5X Magnification Compatible with SmallRig NEEWER iPhone Samsung Phone Cage Case with 17mm Lens Adapter, LS-59

I got this NEEWER 2X teleconverter hoping to use it with my phone’s wide and ultra-wide lenses, but I ended up only being able to use it on my telephoto lens. I’m using a SmallRig phone adapter, and the teleconverter just wouldn’t line up or fit securely with the wide or ultra-wide lenses, only the center telephoto worked. If you’re looking to use this lens on anything except your phone’s telephoto lens, double-check compatibility with mounts, because in my case, it was too loose and kept rotating or just wouldn’t sit right. It was easy to screw in and use, no issues with installing it, the weigh was nice and not too heavy. This was one of the most affordable lenses I could find for phones. When I did use it with the telephoto, it was honestly a bit too zoomed in for what I wanted, it kind of overshot the sweet spot. For the wide lens, if I managed to get it to sit there, it was way too zoomed out, so it didn’t really serve my purpose. I was mainly hoping to get a tighter, higher-quality closeup out of my wide lens, but the fit just wasn’t there. On the bright side, the build quality is really solid. When I was able to use it, I didn’t notice much artifacting, smudging, or blur, even when zoomed in so if your phone’s lens is good quality like the S25 Ultra, the results should be pretty clean. I could see some people maybe having issues with older phones, but for me, image quality wasn’t a problem at all. In the end, I ended up returning it because it just wouldn’t fit my wide or ultra-wide lenses securely, and that was my main use case. Maybe with some tweaks like a rubber grommet or a different mounting setup, it could work, but out of the box, it didn’t fit my needs. If you’re just looking to use it on your telephoto lens and want a strong 2x zoom, it should do the job. Just make sure it’s going to fit your particular phone and lens mount before you buy.

It's a really cool piece of kit giving one both more reach and macro capacity. Got it primarily for landscapes [punch in shots on wide angle] and animal photo/videography. No noticeable visual distortions with the unit I've got. It does soften the image slightly as to be expected. It's 40.5 mm on the outer diameter, if you are planning on adding filters to it. Points amazon wants me to hit: It's easy to transport and to install, very pocketable. For the money it's a great buy giving you both a mid range zoom and a macro functionality. I'm pretty happy with it. Very functional.

It did what it was supposed to do and that is magnify the 5X camera on my iPhone by two, but I was never thrilled with the results. To me this would be good for a person who isn’t serious about excellent image quality.

Clear picture, just a tad heavy

I was heavily impressed with the quality of this lens, it worked perfectly the a compatible phone cage and . Images quality along with my samasung g25 ultra complemented it as intended. Im quite pleased

This was a lot of work and I feel like buying a larger camera would have been better for us but for someone looking at cost vs a large upscale camera, this option was okay. The photos were alight in my opinion.

I don't normally writer reviews, but I'd been waiting for Neewer to make a lens like this since January of this year (2024) when I purchased their 60mm telephoto lens and was blown away. It gave me beautiful shallow depth of field, but I wanted more. And when I saw this product was available I immediately purchased the last one in stock and I'm so happy I did. I've attached a semi-graded screenshot of a scene I filmed for a client last week. Look at the beautiful separation of the subject from the nearby background! It's a dream. I was giddy on set the whole day! I got a VND to filter out the excess light, and overall this lens and its cage (which I had already purchased) have absolutely changed the game for me. I have creator friends who constantly ask me about my setup because their cinema cameras are so heavy and need to be rigged out. But with an iPhone 15 Pro Max, you already have a big screen and don't need to buy an external monitor, not to mention you can screenmirror to a laptop (with a lag, but oh well) and you can be super light on your feet and film literally anywhere without being disruptive! I have tried several settings changed on my iPhone 17 PRO MAX but sometimes the camera view will include the lens, changing the zoom of the iPhone will result in erratic images. the instructions provided are very limited... I am still unable to use the product...
