JBL DSP4086 8-Channel Class D Amplifier Design with Digital Signal Processing (Renewed)

I installed this in my 2014 Ford Explorer Limited with the Sony sound system. This went in place of the factory Sony Amp and was small enough to mount behind the plastic so it is protected and out of sight. Using a Rockford Fosgate DSR1 to get signal to it, I left the DSR1 flat and do all the DSP magic on the JBL. After setting all my crossovers, integrating my aftermarket subwoofers, and a little bit of EQ to tone down the factory speakers shouty 600-1kHz, this system shreds! if you go and set up your time alignment, it sounds like a whole new sound system. I hated the way the factory system was crossed over and tuned, so this gives me so much more control over my sound. Not much louder than the stock amplifier, but the stock 25Watt speakers are probably at their limit for output. I have a set of Aftermarket door speakers on the way which should further improve the sound. Besides the almost impossible task of getting a power wire through the firewall on these 5th gen Explorers, I highly recommend this upgrade to anyone stuck with stock sound. And more importantly, take the time to actually tune your system. Makes a world of a difference, and crossovers will help limited power go further. Cheers!

Very capable if you love tweaking your sound. Not the most powerful but will do fine for most door speakers. I love that it has 32 parametric adjustments per channel. On my midst I used all of them. I also used channel 7&8 for sub out.....you just have to turn the level down. It is sensitive to how your USB port is configured an the start up connection order but once you have that solved it's tuning game on.

I must confess, the amp is way more than it seems to be. Do not be fooled by the size. It does everything it says it does. It does get a little hot but so far, so good. The integrated equalizer is amazing. I have it moving 2 small woofers of 200 watts with tweeters and a pair of 4-way 6x9 of 300 watts. All of them quake! The computer app is a little finicky but it gets the job done. I would be interested in knowing if I can find pre-made files for this amp. I hope it does not blow up on me!

It is supposed to be renewed, but looks and works like new. All packaging appear to be straight from the factory.
