Great sound, great price
Initial setup is straight forward...follow the on screen instructions and you'll be up and running in no time. Sounds quality is amazing! (Naturally, quality speakers are a must.) The first amp I've ever owned where the dialog enhancement actually works. Surround sound modes work really well, even when decoding OTA/streaming broadcasts. 4k pass-through is sharp and lag-free. Bluetooth pairing to your phone is easy and takes about 10 seconds. This is a quality amp for home theater use at a good price point.

Great product at a fantastic price.
I'm super glad I ended up buying the Denon. The sound is great and the eArc integration with my TV and DVD players is flawless (albeit rather complicated to setup). The number of HDMI ports is great. I haven't tried the phono input yet but it's inclusion was a major factor in deciding on this model; has both moving coil and moving magnet but you can only use one or the other; not dual phono inputs. The AM and FM tuner section works really well but I can get just about every station over the internet so why bother. I initially had it set up with the wireless ethernet but switch to wired through a switch since the TV and both DVD players also want an ethernet connection. I wish it had more RCA AUX ports for a VCR and cassette player. The audio balancing routine is a nice touch but set up the TV first as it's really difficult to navigate without the on screen prompts. The mic wire needs to be just a little longer for a large room. A USB C connection would be a nice touch but for $400 I couldn't be happier.

Dolby Atmos is amazing
Great amp. Great price, way better than the Onkyo's. Easy setup Dolby Atmos is amazing as long as you have all the right speakers and have them placed in the right areas and you're listening or watching something that is coded in that. But once you have everything set up and you give it everything it's supposed to have produces a wonderful sound.

Great product for the price, albeit with speaker connection considerations!
Love the features and Denon sound! I’ve had the unit for 3 months. It took about 30 hours of fun before I had it al down. With computer-like selection, these page to page internal maps gradually unleashed a killer sound and variety, with some disappointments (see later in review), but for the money this is a great sounding unit! I have a large bedroom-sized room for music and movies. Incredible upgrade from my previous setup. But BEWARE before you buy this model, that it’s a 7.2 output, including a second zone . The receiver can give you Dolby Atmos, Height and surround backs etc., and a second stereo zone, but you share ONE pair of speaker terminals on the x1700 for all of these extra features. (There are 2 subwoofer outs, but only for the main zone, so it’s really 7.2.) Another nice feature is an excellent phono pre-amp. One quirk. You can’t have a zone 2 set and Dolby Atmos at the same time without going to the back of the receiver and changing the wires. An internal speaker patch would be a great cure for this, but then you could just spend another $500 and get the x3000 9.2 series units with more headroom, too, although this is a punchy little monster through my Linn speakers and a KLH and JBL subs and JBL Studio Monitor 4311 sides. I have one sub behind the listening position so I can reach back and adjust 80-500hz at will. The price went up 10% a few months after I bought it, so beware if you’re on the fence.

Solid AVR at a Good Price
We bought a new 77" TV and wanted a nice AVR and the AVR-X1700H fits the bill. With 80 watts it is perfect for our mid sized living room. The AVR is easy to control, comes with a good setup program, and is attractive. It has plenty of HDMI inputs, though we primarily use it through our Apple TV though we also have a Blu-ray player hooked up to it as well. It drives our 5.1 system with clear audio and plenty of punch.

Doesn't work
Wonderful device that can do anything it wants on paper. In reality, does almost nothing well. This is a shockingly bad product for the price. Expect a missing user guide, hours of troubleshooting, and a user interface straight out of the 90s. Bluetooth doesn't work. Headphones don't work. Kept forgetting wifi network. Settings menu sometimes works, but takes 2 minutes to load up while the receiver struggle to process the signal. This industry is ripe for disruption. Zero innovation in decades. Looking forward to returning this product and pivoting to a soundbar permanently.

Feature rich at a good price point
It is very feature rich and much better price than similar products with similar features. Has 6 HDMI inputs which is hard to find in many brands except very expensive models. All support 4K and 3 of them support 8K. My previous unit, AVR-S750H died after few years. It also had 6 HDMI inputs, and one of the inputs was in the front which was very convenient for ad-hoc use. However, on this unit all HDMI inputs are in the back. Speaker configuration mic and utility is very helpful and convenient. It also identifies speaker wire polarity helps identify and correct speaker wire connection.

Excelente receiver.
