This is a great phone holder. Holds phone perfectly. Great for the money but the durability is not the best. They seem to break after one year.

The vents on my dash are inconveniently placed for a phone holder. This holder goes dead center in the middle of the dash, right where I want my phone. This is a perfect holder for me and my car. I couldn't be happier with it. As long as you tighten it upon inserting it in the cd holder it stays put. It loosens up a little every now and then but a quick turn of the knob and its back to perfection. My phone has never slipped from its grip.

The phone holder seemed to be of good material. It fit just as described in the instructions and was easy to install. It held the weight of my phone well and was easy to open. The size of my phone was close to the maximum it was designed for and it had problem holding it securely. Occasionally I would have to re-tighten the piece that was inserted in the CD slot, but otherwise it works good.

This popped up as a recommendation from Amazon after prior searches for device holders. This has fins that slide into the slot on the car CD player and are spread with a simple knob operated screw to wedge the holder in place. No suction cups - mechanical connection. It is easy to install and remove with no damage to the CD player or vehicle. It is surprisingly solid and the actual phone or device holder is adjustable for viewing with a ball joint locked by tightening a screw collar. The holder accommodates either my iPhone or an MP3 player. Check the max and min dimensions against your own devices but this does fit a wide range of small electronics. The movable arms on the bottom allowed me to access charging or cable connections even when not centered on the device being held. I would caution that your specific car CD player must have a flat face. If the face of the CD player is curved the fins may not lock in cleanly as they do not extend equally into the slot and the narrow shoulder on the bracket will not sit flush against the face of the CD player. In my vehicle the device being held and the holder partially obscures the visibility of the original manufacturer's touchscreen. I can still see what I need, but do consider where the CD slot is in relation to any LED screen in your specific vehicle. This works great in my car. Much preferable to suction cups and vent clips for my application.

well made, very stable in its CD slot , and it hold the phone well . It is nice to have the phone at the dashboard level and not above it obstructing vision in my Tacoma. This was an excellent choice on my behalf and very reasonably priced

If you have a CD player in your car that you never use, this is a great phone holder. It slipds into the CD slot and is very secure. I've never had it fall out in any way after years of use (I'm on my third one now). It holds small and large phones securely. The side arms slide into place manually. Nothing is automated. No power required except your hand to put in your phone and squeeze the holding arms on the sides. When you want to remove your phone, press the button on the side and the arms slide outward to releate your phone. All in all, it is very simple and because CD players are usually in the center of the console, it places your phone in a very good location. It also has a locking ball and socket joint so you can position it just right. The problem is that they made a change to the device. My first one worked great. I'm still using it. When I got one for my second car, it "broke." The arms wouldn't stay in position when I squeezed it. They kept expanding out. I found that if I tapped it a few times, it would usually start working. Instead of troubleshooting, I purchased a third one. It worked for a while, but then got the same problem. All the while, the first one continued to work just find. So, I took them all apart. The first one has lubricant inside it. The second two do not. So, I put some petrolium jelly in them, around the springs and gears and the push button on the side. I may have put a little too much, but once closed you can't see any of it. Then, after lubricating them, they work fine. No troubles. So, if you get one of these, expect to remove the four screws on the back, flip it over, carefully remove the front (try not to let the parts all fall out), liberally fill it with lubricant, and put it back together again.

I had a cheapo unit that I got at Walmart. I was actually a magnetic mount that required affixing a small metal plate to the back of your phone (since the magnet won't work on aluminum, etc.). That part of it worked great, but the part that attached to the air condition vent did not work so well. It would frequently pop out and you'd hear my cursing a block away as my phone landed on the floor as I was trying to follow Google Maps, etc. It's just not worth it. The CD slot holders are hard to find. Many cars don't have CD players anymore, but if you have an older car like mine (2009)... and likely aren't using CDs anymore... THIS is the one you want. It is rock solid and not going anywhere. The only quibble I have is that over time the ratcheting clamp doesn't always ratchet. I have to pull it open and fiddle with it and then it will clamp. But seriously, if it gets to the point where it's too much hassle to clamp the phone, I'll just order another of these.

Minimal bit of assembly, but it involves putting the three provided rubber-ish stick on. The written instructions with the product had B&W diagrams, but it wasn't really clear which side each went on. Pulling up the item page, the color pictures of assembling made it clear which went were. Other than figuring out which way to put those, assembly was easy. Put into my CD slot, and tightening down the screw -- the holder is extremely solid and stable. I think my stereo would break free from my dash before the holder moved. Need to close the side bar to hold your phone. Super strong grip on it (didn't need the little foldout feet). To remove my phone, have to press button on side (not immediately obvious, but I'd left the instructions in the house at that point) to release the side holders, they spring out and let the phone free. I'd rather not have to adjust the width of the holder every time I put my phone in, and I'm sure I'll drop my phone a few times when I release it. Not a big deal (especially considering the price. Attachment to dash and to phone is extremely sturdy. It's nothing fancy, but far better built and solid than you'd expect from the price.
