Well Made & Great Quality Product
Very happy with this scale. My 20 year old Tanita scale finally retired, and I wanted the same brand, so I found this scale. It tracks weight, body fat AND water. It's programmable for 2 people and it's also easy to program right out of the box.

Great scale (IF you know how to properly use a scale!)
This is a great scale. It produces very consistent results; always giving me the same reading (or +-0.2 lbs) when measuring back to back. The reviewers who say it's inaccurate probably do not know how to use a scale properly. If your weight changes several pounds from one reading to another, you most likely either moved the scale or are standing differently on it. Also, no impedance analysis scale will give you an accurate reading of your body fat. It greatly depends on your hydration level, time of day of the measurement and your body composition. This means there are two things you need to realize to use the body fat function properly: 1. the number displayed is just a guideline, it may be off by up to 10% depending on your unique body composition; what you need to track is CHANGE over time 2. you need to measure under the same circumstances each time for data to be accurate, since this is difficult to do, your best bet is to take frequent measurements (each day or week) and look at the trend over time Here's how I successfully use this scale: I measure my weight and body fat every morning after my morning toilet, wearing the same clothes, standing the same way on the scale and never moving it around. My weight varies by at most 2 lbs from day to day (usually much less) and body fat at most +-1%. I then record my stats in an iPhone app that can be used to show and plot the data over time. If you look at some weeks or months worth of data, you will definitely see a trend and the data becomes very credible in representing how much fat vs lean mass you've gained or lost.

Great value, and a necessary tool
I recently finished a successful weight loss campaign in which I reached my target weight 75 pounds lighter than when I began. Woohoo! Let's all feel great! However, now is when the real work begins. That weight has to stay off. My weight loss program had included standing on my doctor's Tanita scale at each appointment while weight, water retention, fat loss, and muscle mass were calibrated. One of the basic parts of my new life of maintenance meant that this responsibility was now passed on to me, but he only bathroom scale I owned gave me an approximate reading of gross weight with no breakdown. Such a Stone Age tool was no longer viable. I ordered my own Tanita through Amazon at a very affordable price and immediately began benefitting by accurate weight calibration plus the absolutely necessary readings of fat and water percentage. Shortly after I began my own readings with my Tanita, I went on a major vacation in which exercize and eating were two featured activities. I came home and stepped on my Tanita, and to my horror saw I had gained five pounds! (I mean, how surprising was that?) After I calmed down I noticed, thanks to the other readings with which the Tanita scale follows up, I had LOST fat mass, GAINED muscle mass, and was retaining some water, probably due to sodium intake. I breathed a sigh of relief and am thankful for the absolutely necessary knowledge my new Tanita Scale gives me. My opinion is that it is an irreplaceable tool for maintaining proper weight and good health.

Solid, user friendly scale from a heavyweight in the industry
I'm happy with this purchase so far. After my old Tanita finally gave out (the LCD screen stopped working, ten+ years after owning it), I hoped to find a similar scale with reasonable BMI accuracy and a more precise weight measurement. (My previous scale measured in .5lb increments; I was aiming for .1 or .2lb increments) I considered several scales, ultimately narrowing my search down to this and a newer scale by a company called Greater Goods. I chose this scale because even though it is not a new model and was ten dollars more than the Greater Goods scale, I was ultimately skeptical about buying from a relatively unproven brand whose products include scales and...um...coffee?? From past experience, I knew Tanita to be a quality scale from a manufacturer invested solely in the business of making scales, and I knew the life cycle to be much longer than many other manufacturers. It bodes well to me that this model is at least 12 years old and is still being manufactured and sold. I don't need (or want) a scale that syncs with my other devices and I'm not an athlete, so aside from wanting a general sense of my BMI and accurate weight measurements to within +/- .1 or .2 lbs, my priorities were: that the materials be durable, that the scale be accurate and able to work on various surfaces (my floor is uneven and I have the unit placed on a mat), that it have some thickness to it and to NOT turn on automatically when stepping on it (I often use this for a boost in height in front of my mirror and I don't want to run out batteries unnecessarily), and that it not look horrible in my bathroom. This scale fit my needs as closely as possible. It's accurate, consistent on different surfaces, seems sturdy, and is unobtrusive in my bathroom. However, I would have preferred the design of my previous Tanita scale, for two reasons. First, the surface of this scale is slightly convex, which means that when stepping on it, the scale feels like it will tip sideways or that I will roll my ankle. Second, the metal pads for the electric current are of an awkward shape and are placed a bit too far apart for my average-sized-female feet. Still, relative to my previous Tanita, I get the features I wanted and then some (water measurement and memory buttons for two users), so I'm glad that I made this choice and hope that this scale serves me at least as long and as well as my previous scale.

Excellent Quality
Excellent scale. Had my last one for over 10 years. It didnt break. I got water on it by keeping it too close to shower and it developed rust. It still worked but I didnt want it to get rust on my floor. So I bought the identical scale. Excellent quality.

I've owned this scale for almost a year now and can say that so far, it's a great way to monitor your weight, as well as estimate your body fat percentage. As with all bioelectrical impedance analysis (BIA) based devices, the results are still calculated values and may not reflect true body fat percentage. The instructions manual gives some tips that will help give better, more accurate values. The scale itself is pretty consistent. When measuring weight, body fat %, and body water % multiple times in a row, it gives the same set of results. The body fat % this scale gives is also very close in value to another scale that I've tried that was used in a university lab.

Highly recommend this scale. Its accuracy is good and gives you body fat and water % as well. Programmable for 2 people as well. I have an older one as well (20 years old) but decided I needed a new one. Love it!

Je l’utilise pour usage professionnel et je peux choisir mes résultats en kg ou en livre. Ça donne le poids, le taux d’hydratation et le fat. C’est vraiment fiable et facile à utiliser.
