TRD Performance Air Intake

This intake really cleans the engine bay up and I think it should have been the default setup on our cars. The OEM intake along with the sound tube is just unnecessarily complicated in my opinion. Fitment is great, it has an OEM look and feel to it. Installation was a breeze and the instruction was very easy to follow. The sound changed quite noticeably inside the cabin. The car is now quieter (I think it's due to the sound tube delete) with the TRD intake and there are more "mechanical" elements to the engine sound. In comparison the OEM intake sounds more "resonated". Does the TRD intake make a great sound? I've heard better engine sounds in my life. But I think for our cars it is as good as a Toyobaru boxer engine gets. Together with a Perrin 2.5" catback I noticed slight throttle response and power improvements. Nothing major though. Fuel economy seems to stay the same - around 30 mpg combined the way I drive it. Overall satisfied. It is a bit pricey but worth it.

Very easy to install piece. Noticed instant results. No more fake piped in sound thanks to the sound tube delete. Throttle response seems much better. This paired with my TRD Cat-back makes the stock FR-S much more impressive. 10/10 would buy again

It first the 2017 Toyota 86 perfectly. Comes with install instructions, and all the parts needed. Much larger and easier breathing air cleaner. Makes the engine bay look a lot nicer, as well as eliminating the useless sound tube into the cabin.

This intake kit installs easily and without worries about possibly voiding the cars warranty with other aftermarket kits. It is also CARB certified so it might be the only aftermarket intake legal to use in California. It really cleans up the engine bay by getting rid of the sound generator tube. I haven't actually gotten dyno results but i can say that it probably makes a little bit of power. 4 stars because other intakes have shown equal or larger power gains for a lot less money. If you are in CA though this might be the only choice.

This is my new favorite mod for the FRS. More power, better throttle response, and no sound tube into the cabin. Paired with the TRD exhaust package, and the car sounds downright mean. My city mileage went up a bit as well. My only problem with it is you have to get an E.O. sticker from the dealership. There's a number for Toyota MDC on the instruction sheet, but they won't help you. Take the sticker part number to the dealership, and it should be a no cost part.

Easy Install. Came as described. Better throttle response, and sounds better than the sound tube.

wonderful so far

I have ordered this item TWICE and both times received only ONE COMPONENT of the full intake system advertised - the small red tube connecting the airbox to the motor (see image). I was assured I would receive the correct item if I re-ordered, so I placed a second order. Sure enough, I received the same component AGAIN, which is useless without the rest of the intake system. Until the obvious inventory issue is resolved, DO NOT BUY THIS ITEM!!!
