Ziwi Peak Venison is the cat food staple at my house
I've been feeding my cats Ziwi Peak Venison as a staple since 202I. It's a great quality food and the health of my two cats has greatly improved since I began feeding it. Ziwi Peak Venison is very dense, so I always mix it with one of the Tiki Cat Pates. My cats love Tiki Cat After Dark Pate Turkey & Turkey Liver. They also love Tiki Cat After Dark Pate Venison & Beef Liver. My cats will turn 14 this year; and, thanks to their quality cat food, they are healthy and have soft, shiny coats. I highly recommend Ziwi Peak Venison.

This is the best! Must get!!!!!
I have discovered throughout the past few years my cat has allergies to chicken, turkey, and duck. I have 2 cats and my other cat has hard time chewing food. It is so hard finding food that does not have chicken in it. About 90% of all products even salmon canned wet food has chicken. I have heard good things about venison and how it’s less likely for an allergy. I discovered this brand and was very impressed by the ingredients (not a huge fan of chickpea for them, but way cleaner than mostly any other food). I have tried the raw food in Ziwi, and they don’t like the taste and have gotten sick from it. I have tried a raw/cooked meat on my own and they don’t like it. I try when I can to do everything holistically for my cats and her I can, and kibble food isn’t good for our cats since it was made for convince. I believe it’s best for moisture since most cats don’t drink enough water. Just know it’s very expensive to feed 2 cats on this food with strictly wet food, but if it means a better life and allergy free I will do it. You won’t regret this food. Both cats are picky eaters and they love this food. If you have a picky eater go to the Ziwi website and see how to transition food. My cat that has a hard time chewing is very picky, now she is the first one over when I feed them.

Hate the price, love how good it is for my IBD cats with food allergies.
I can only imagine that New Zealanders pay half the price for this food (if that!), which is just another reason on a very long list of reasons I wish could move to Middle Earth. But I digress. This used to be the sole food that was tolerable to an IBD cat I had years ago. Back then the bone shards were scary large and I would pick them out, supplementing egg shell powder for the lost calcium source. No pet owner wants to go through that hassle, especially for the price, so I'm relieved to see that the pieces of bone are now small enough to be digested easily. Yes, they're supposed to be there. Why, you might ask. Because Ziwi Peak is one of the only cat food manufacturers that mimics a cat's natural diet via type of ingredients and ratios. You'd have to buy food from a supplier that specializes in raw food diets with the appropriate muscle meat/organ/bone ratio to get a better approximation of the ideal prey diet. House cats have the same GI system as tigers or lions, they haven't evolved the way dogs have. The closer you can get to a natural diet, the healthier they should be. So, anyway, I ended up with two more IBD cats with various food allergies and embarked on a whirlwind cat food adventure in the hopes of finding something that wouldn't cause any issues. Ziwi Peak was tried, cats wouldn't touch it, we moved on to other novel protein-based foods and, still, the vomiting continued. We tried the commercial raw foods in novel protein sources and, still, the vomiting continued. We got a prescription for a hypoallergenic commercial food and it was ok. Vomiting was limited, but the cats needed mega doses of probiotics/prebiotics and egg yolk powder to keep hairballs under control. Eventually the cats began vomiting up the prescription food and I found out that cross-contamination is a pretty big problem in the pet food industry. I started to wonder if the problem wasn't the protein source so much as *where* the food was manufactured. This is when I decided that we'd give Ziwi Peak another shot, but use it exclusively. The cats were less than thrilled with the abrupt change in diet, especially since the healthier food tends to not be as appetizing as the less nutritious chicken and fish in gravy type foods (I mean, come on. That's like saying, "Here, would you prefer this pizza for dinner or a grilled chicken breast and steamed vegetables?" to a person.) You've got to be sneaky with them when switching to a healthier diet. Mine go bonkers for freeze-dried duck liver treats and I decided to use this as an incentive to eat the Ziwi Peak by crushing the treats into a fine powder and sprinkling it over the food. I only had to do this for two days before they started digging into the the Ziwi Peak sans the extra motivation. The new diet hasn't been a miracle cure for my cat with severe IBD, though her condition has improved significantly. It's been far more successful for my cat with moderate IBD. I've been able to cut back on supplements and I'm seeing an all-around boost to their general health. I add a little water to the food and can tell they're no longer dehydrated since the water bowl is rarely touched. They used to drain it, plus 1/4 of another bowl, by the end of the day when they were mostly eating dry prescription food. That's not a good sign. Cats don't have a very strong thirst drive to begin with and chronic dehydration is a common cause of kidney problems later in life. If you change nothing else about their diet, please get your cats off of dry food if you can. It's the worst thing you can feed them. I guess I'll have to keep paying these ridiculous prices for food since it's the only thing that's made a noticeable difference in their health. I'm hoping to use it as a stepping stone to a non-commerical raw food diet. A natural diet in raw form is easiest on their digestion. It's a daunting prospect, but I think we're up for another cat food adventure.

Yum
My cats love this. Initially I got the venison only for my picky boy cats and kept the beef for the girls since it’s so expensive. But the girls just wait until the boys leave their plates and go and eat the venison leaving the beef, or just March over and push the boys out! They all want the venison. I love that the 6 oz cans are good and dense and not watered down like so many other companies do to stretch the food. With 7 cats feeding them is very expensive and I want a quality product to keep them healthy. This is it!

DO NOT BUY!
This food put both of my cats in the ER. $1.6k later and we found out that our brand new $100 worth of wet food is actually bad even though we’ve had it for 3 days… our cats literally got food poising from this food they went from normal to throwing up 8-10 times each and then not eating, drinking or sleeping for days. They’re intestinal track was inflamed and they were in enough pain where they could not sleep. We had to give them IV’s, pain medication and anti nausea medication even then it took another 2-3 days for them to fully recover in total about a week all due to this food. So don’t be fooled like I was I thought buying expensive “premium” food was the route to go but the lack of consistency proved otherwise. I’d rather stick with cheap friskies knowing those $1 cans won’t put my cats in the hospital. $1.6k later and I’ve learned this food is no good nor will I ever buy it again and I will constantly make others aware that this food should never be ingested by an animal. Shame on manufacturers shame on the company and quality control.

My Kitty Boys Love This!
Ziwi Peaks is by far my kittys' favorite food, and the venison is their favorite flavor! We have one cat with a chicken allergy, and it is difficult to find chicken free food in general, let alone multiple flavors. Ziwi Peak offers multiple options of flavors that all maintain the same quality, cat-healthy ingredients.

Cats love it
My cats loved this but it’s very rich and at times made them vomit. I’ve stopped giving it to them; maybe because they’re 18 years old they can’t digest such rich food. It’s a shame because it’s their favorite wet food.

I have 2 points on this - too expensive - has chickpeas in the ingredients Was expecting high quality animal source of protein for this price , not worth it 🤷♀️

I spent a lot of time researching foods that would help one of my cats with his IBD. It's extremely hard finding foods for this condition, which makes me sad, considering how horrible it is for both the cat, and owners seeing their cats go through it. ZiwiPeak is definitely one of the more expensive foods out there, but in my opinion, well worth it. The ingredients are high quality, it's not full of grains and fillers, and my cats LOVE it. I feel good feeding this food to all 3 of my cats. I considered a raw diet, as I have heard it does wonders for so many issues cats face... but my cats are older, and transitioning to a raw diet would be very difficult. ZiwiPeak is the closest you can get to that, and there was no transitioning needed. So far we've only tried the Venison cans, and the lamb cans. I will be ordering the lamb/rabbit cans soon. As for my cat with his IBD, he's doing better. Much better actually. He's still on a prescription dry food from the vet, which I am considering switching to ZiwiPeak air-dried instead, since he's still vomiting sometimes... and only vomits dry food. Really glad I found this food!
