Worth the money
Bought this because I live in a second floor flat and have an indoors cat that needs cooling down in summer. This is incredible. Gets to work right away and cooled our flat perfectly. The price is intimidating but 100% worth it! It is quite noisy when its cooling but livable (possibly not if you want it on during night time though). The cat has never been happier

Not recommended AC
I regret to purchase this air conditioner, the board do fail from running from time to time, fan blade also never moves sometime and temperatures has been changed from 16 to 23 degree which blows hot air, customer services were really unhelpful and never gives a straight answer to solve the issue until you gave up.

It does the job brilliantly
This was bought as a first aircon unit to use in 30sqm room. First impressions, it does the job really well. Is it noisy, yes but not massively. You can still hold a conversation when it's on full but you might need to turn the TV up a bit ( ours is next to the telly). Can't comment on the window kit as it's vented through the wall. Personally I'd recommend it

Essential with the increasing heat of UK summers.
When the temperature hit 41 degrees this summer, I was still able to sleep quite comfortably. For this alone it was worth the price. We have a smallish 3 bedroom semi, and the air con is located in the porch, with the pipe going through the cat flap. In the hight of the heat we found that the downstairs was cool (not cold, but cool). The upstairs was still hot, so it was not powerful enough to do two floors (not that it ever claimed it was). The downstairs varied in temperature, as it is a traditional build for the UK, meaning air flow is reduced, so an open planned setup may have faired better. What it did mean, was that during the hot stuffy nights, we just setup the air bed and slept happily in the lounge. Really really happy with this, and because its Merco, it should last. Outside of the summer months, we'll pack it away and it is small enough to store in the garage without taking much space. Let's face it, this is going to be essential moving forward.

Powerful, but mind the spill
This item arrived less than 4 days ago and after the first day has already begun producing water underneath the portable AC. As can be seen in the pictures the exhaust plug is firmly attached but none the less the leaking persists. The AC is actually really powerful, but maybe not suitable for a bedroom if you intend to use it at temperatures between 16-20 degrees as it will struggle to maintain this temperature and thus trigger itself into the highest setting which can be quite noisy in a smaller room or bedroom. All in all I have a 12k BTU Russel hobbs this is not much of an upgrade even being a 14k BTU appears to perform roughly the same as fairly premium portable ACs on the market, just be careful of the spillage

Not as cool for large room
Takes the edge off a sticky room but not the best for living room - would be better getting split unit

Powerful air conditioner from reliable UK company
I chose a Meaco air conditioner because we already own a Meaco dehumidifier and have experienced their outstanding customer service. (It went wrong within the guarantee period, we told them the error code, they sent us a new one immediately - no fuss.) They are a trustworthy UK-based manufacturer whose guarantees mean something. I decided that was worth paying a bit more. We’ve not had a heatwave yet, but it is already clear that the air conditioner is as powerful as it claims to be. At full blast the air coming out of it feels really chilly. And there’s a lot of it. I just tried putting my hand over the outflow and it started feeling uncomfortably cold - mildly painful - after roughly five seconds. Getting the exhaust hose fitted to our windows was one thing that worried me when I was deciding whether to buy this. I needn’t have been concerned. It comes with two different types of fixing kit: one for sash windows, the other for those that open on a hinge (eg normal upvc ones, velux). We have both. The sash window kit is the simplest (really easy) but we want this in a room with upvc windows, and that’s fine too. You just need to stick some Velcro tape round your chosen window and window frame, then attach the seal (which made out of the same stuff as suit carriers). This is straightforward, and once it’s done you just open a zip and stick the exhaust hose out. Simple, I thought. The white Velcro tape on our window isn’t even that obvious if you’re not looking for it. On noise, I think your perceptions depend a lot on your expectations. All in-room air conditioners are going to be loud at full blast. I think I’d be fine even sleeping with it on ‘high’ (it’s just white noise) but it might be that the change in sound when the compressor kicks in or turns off gets annoying. On ‘middle’ it’s fine, on ‘low’ it could almost be described as quiet. I haven’t worked out what the ‘sleep’ mode does yet - turning it on results in the same sound level as ‘low’. I might end up using this function, but my initial intention is to put it on full blast to cool our bedroom right down before we go to sleep, then just turn it off for the night. I’m looking forward to some hot weather so I can try it out properly.
