Phone for the security conscious but not.. at this price
I am a bit surprised to see the price for this phone at double the price from Europe (where I ordered mine, for barely 100 $ compared to the >200$ US price displayed here). In Europe, it's sold and kept in store by Amazon, which probably explains the "proper price". Without dwelving too deep on what my job is, I am going to explain why "dumb phones" are interesting in 2020. Some people buy those for their kids. They are also widely sold in Africa or India where you need a phone to be as cheap as possible, but still be able to properly play videos, and give access to the usual social media programs like Twitter, Facebook, WhatsApp and so on. And there are the "security conscious" people. I use this model as main phone. It does the basics : send/receive calls, send/receive SMS and MMS content. When I need to access something that would require a smart phone, I use the Nokia 800 "hotspot" function to provide Wifi to a cheapo smart phone loaded with the few apps I might need, and that second phone has no simcard, no knowledge of any Wifi but the 800. Thus, securely giving me access to bank app or a few things. It also gives a Linux-laptop with no disk + TailsOS loaded onto a Sdcard access to Internet when I need a more powerful tool. Second phone is kept encrypted and turned off when not used. Laptop is kept off, firmware secured, and no disk device of any kind. If you are security oriented, using a non-iOs/Android phone is a step. Several devices passing through the 800, distributing Internet to second device which does the VPN itself propagated to a secured-laptop is the second step. This is a good phone for this. Source code for its KaiOS is available on Github and can be easily be customized to lock it down much further. This is the easiest phone that is both dumb and sources available to be customized for a very high security setup (I could go further down on details why but this is not the place). Very good battery life. Very fine for calls. Not fun at all to write SMS/MMS content with... Phone is pretty crappy at 2M. Resists water and spills, dust.. to the MIL-STD-810G Spec. IF you like hiking too this is a very fine phone.

Not what I thought it would be, sadly
I didn’t have an internet connection while outside my wifi range. Worked like a regular phone with calls and text ONLY! That being said was the major selling point for me to have at least a 4G connection while out and about. Predictive texting wouldn’t work while the settings were activated. If these 2 functions worked I wouldn’t be sending it back like I am now. Sadly, it is a wonderfully built device and I’m just upset that it didn’t work as stated

Bugs bugs bugs
I have used the phone for about a month. The quality of the phone is excellent, however, I have experienced the following problems. Non Critical issues: 1. Unreliable keyboard. The activation of a key triggers multiple clicks. The keys sometimes don't work and you have to press them twice. The most annoying thing is when the screen lock is activated and for the above errors you have to enter the pin 3 or 4 times. 2. Phone reception is poor to say a lot. 3. Kaios is full of many many many bugs. 4. Applications in general are limited (This we already knew is a dumb phone.) Critical Issues: 1. The phone suddenly turns off without notice. 2 The phone suddenly turns off when activating predictive text. In general the quality of phone materials is very good, however the final use experience is very very bad. I really wanted this phone works for me however the cons are too numerous and serious to have it as the main phone and much less as a secondary phone. My humble advice: wait for the next version of this phone.
